Stapleford won the toss against West Hallam and opted to bat. Brear and Walker opened the innings and looked in no trouble against the attack of Bostock and Bowler. Leg spinner Siddons came on and was expensive but a bad ball bowled to Walker, proved the openers downfall as he hit the ball straight at square leg. Mark Fletcher joined Brear but didnt look his normal self and was bowled by Siddons looking to cut loose. Brear crept closer to his 100 and had a life on 94 when he was dropped in the covers by Bowler. In the next over he reached 3 figures, winning a bet with Simon Bartles who offered him 8-1 on him not getting a ton. Brear has a fiver and consequently won £40. It wasnt all smiles for Brear as his fine 116 was cut short by a leading edge where Chris Green took the catch off his own bowling. The closing overs is where the runs really came as Harchuk joined Paul Fletcher. The pair added 60 in just 7 overs. Harchuk perrished for 33 when he found mid off, but Paul Fletcher kept on going with some vicious strikes but he was out in the last over for 54 giving Stalpleford a score of 245-5. The end of innings onslaught took its toll on Chris Green as he finished with 9-0-80-1.
West Hallams reply got off to the worst possible start as Maurice Lawson was bowled in the 2nd over by Mark Cliff. The real damage was being done by the quality swing bowling of Paul Fletcher as he ran through the middle order of West Hallam. James Bostock was still there. Only he stood in the way of victory and when he found Mark Cliff at mid on off Paul Fletcher after a well made 30, victory for the home side was almost secure. But number 9 Jo Mohammed and number 10 Ryan Essex put up some resistance, but it must be said with the benifit of some poor umpiring. Essex blasted 28 before he perrished to an excellent pressure catch by Brear off Cliff. Cliffs next over was to be the last of the innings and with the first ball he demolished Darren Bowlers stumps giving Stapleford a well earned victory by 90 runs. Paul Fletcher finished with 5-27 and Mark Cliff with 3-29.
Final Result
Stapleford Town (27) 245-5 (Brear 116, P Fletcher 53, Harchuk 33) beat West Hallam WR (5) 155 all out (J Bostock 30, P Fletcher 5-27 Cliff 3-29) by 90 runs
