Duffield Cricket Club's New Improved Website
Duffield CC Logo The 2003 cricket season is now on our doorstep and Duffield Cricket Club have taken the opportunity to launch a brand new website. It is hoped that this site will provide information on the players, fixtures, results and tables as well as other information as and when available. Enjoy
April has arrived, the sound of leather on willow has been heard in the sulubrious surroundings of Derbyshire Indoor Cricketing School, although the odd clatter of metal, as 1st team captain Ed Sim's stumps have once more taken a battering, has also been noticed. With a new season brings much optimism, the arrival of Australian star Kris Elliot has brought joy to many, to others, it means they once again will have to be content with scrapping over the 5,6,7,8 spot in Duffield's line up. His return on the 22nd April should give him enough time to prepare for the seasons curtain raiser against Elvaston. After promotion from Division 2 last season, Duffield 1st XI find themselves in the very competitive Division 1, and the 2nd XI will play in Division 5 South, after restructuring of the leagues. There will be representatives from Duffield in the U-17, U-15, U-13 and Kwik Cricket leagues this season too, as well as Sunday fixtures and occasional midweek fixtures against touring opposition. It is hoped that all cricket matches will have some kind of report attached to them. Off the field, Keith Stevenson (Commercial Manager at Derbyshire) has agreed to take responsibility for the upkeep of the wickets following Arnie Gaskin's decision to retire this year. The pavillion has undergone a facelift over the winter months, and it is hoped that a pool table will also be present for the summer nights. Well, we are all looking forward to the new season, and hope that everyone enjoys the information provided on the site.
