Right Hand Bat / Right Arm Medium Bowler

Nicknames: Bob / Legend

Legend is a word that is often used to frequently nowadays but for this Clay Cross legend the tag is well deserved. Another member of the ‘Hall of Fame’ who has been with the club since 1983 has seen a few changes over the years but Bob seems to be enjoying his cricket more than ever. A very technically correct batsman who is excellent off the back foot has played many an important innings over the years and he goes into 2006 looking to score more runs for the club he loves.
His bowling is top notch too, finishing 2005 with 30 wickets in 5 North topping the Second X1 bowling averages. Bob bowls tricky medium pace and with his ability to make the ball move both ways always seems to trouble batsmen. Always gives 110% in the field and is always there with ideas and suggestions for the captain using his knowledge of the beautiful game.

One of his many claims to fame is during a club trip out to watch Derbyshire play at Bristol, Bob and fellow Cross player Dale Crowder somehow managed to sneak onto the home dressing room balcony at the end of play. They proceeded to rub shoulders with stars such as Jack Russell and Johnty Rhodes amongst others…to this day nobody knows how they got away with it!!
