Matt Garner
Right Hand Batsman / Right Arm Fast Medium

Nickname: Bananaman

Matt seems to be enjoying his cricket more than ever as he enters his fifth season at Clay Cross. He made the move from Stonebroom in 2002 and has never looked back since. He’s one of the Second X1’s main strike bowlers finishing 2005 with 27 wickets at a shade over 22 a piece. It is often wondered why a bowler of his calibre has only made limited first team appearances but you never know things might change for the big man in the future.
A quick bowler on his day Matt also gets big swing hence the nickname Bananaman, some things he gets the ball to do often leave batsmen perplexed on their way back to the pavilion. His batting is somewhat agricultural but does play some important knocks and when the ball is hit it stays hit with the immense power he generates. One to definitely watch out for 2006!

Rumours of Matt’s contract talks with wonderbra have recently been circulating around Clay Cross and look out for his face on a billboard near you soon. Many of the squad think he’s gone from a ‘C’ to a ‘D’ cup over the winter without any surgery…what a lovely pair!!!
