Alex Hatch
Right Hand Batsman / Wicket-Keeper / Right Arm Off Spin Bowler

Nickname: Hatchy

Clay Cross’s token southerner originates from the picturesque county of Kent but has fell in love with life up north, especially the idyllic setting that is Sharley Park. It is not uncommon for him though to return home for a ‘warm’ and ‘some fresh air’ as he would say.
He signed for the club in the winter of 2004 and settled in immediately, originally was only going to stay for that season but he now returns for his third in a Cross shirt. He is a very versatile player, a very technically correct batsman that comes in at the top of the order. His vast array of shots enables him to score freely and dominate bowlers. Outside of batting he prefers to don the Wicket-keeping gloves but is also a very competent spin bowler and has been called upon in a number of matches to turn his arm over and he’s taken a few wickets too. He’s an important member of the squad.

Unfortunately Hatchy has not been blessed with speed and an easy three is often turned into a tight single. He also takes a lot of stick for his accent and he sometimes needs the help of an interpreter to translate some Derbyshire slang into the queens English...he will get there in the end though.
