Jim Carley
Right Hand Batsman / Right Arm Fast Medium Bowler

Nickname: Sir James of Clay Cross

One of the most gifted players in the squad and when he plays he gives the side an extra edge whether through his explosive batting or fierce attacking bowling. On his amazing club debut against Darley Dale back in the 2002 season he took a hat trick in his first over for the club. Two years later during the First X1’s Championship winning season, of which he played a key role, he completed another astounding feat by hitting an incredible six sixes in an over on his way to a career best 130 not out. Jim has played Premiership cricket with his previous club Chesterfield and has scored runs and taken wickets at the top level and hopes one day to play with Clay Cross in the Premier League. Sir James missed most of the 2005 season but still played a major role in the sides first season in Division 2. Hopefully he will be available and raring to go for the 2006 campaign.

Jim turns up to home matches in his flash sports car and what bemuses some people is how he leaves it parked up in the middle of Clay Cross with the roof down. He’s either very trustworthy or has good insurance.
If you ever get to speak to Sir James ask him to name his all time Clay Cross X1 and count how many times he mentions himself…normally 10 times with Sunil being his number 11.
