Indoor League Details - Winning Start!!
By Jon Branson - December 17 2003
News of the winning start to the season for the indoor league team against Bolsover as they carried on where they left off from their triumphant season last year. >

With winter setting in the clubs indoor cricket team have started their season in the Indoor League played at Sharley Park, Clay Cross. Following last seasons triumphant performance which saw them win their division and promotion they are expecting a tough workout this season. With the help of Paul "Bob" Evans we will be following their progress through the season and if I can get hold of Gardiner we might even be able to get the fixtures!!

Their first game took place on Sunday night as they played Bolsover B. Captain Clarke fielded a team of mixed indoor experience with Crowder, Parkin, Dent jnr, Collet and Gardiner making up the 6. Bolsover only fielded a team of 5 players but this was balanced out by Dale not being quite 100% and they batted first. The innings started briskly and runs came but as the innings progressed the scoring slowed. The innings ended with Bolsover 120 all out and wickets for Steve G, Captain Clarke, Dent and a couple of run outs. Apparently special mentions for the bowling of Collet and Dent jnr who haven't done a lot of bowling indoor and bowled well.

With the winning target of 121 in their sights the team set about getting the runs. The mainstay of the run chase came as a partnership between Parkin (25) and Dent jnr (37) built. With very few boundaries hit throughout the innings it was a case of running hard. At the start of the final over 2 runs were required and these were hit by Mr Dent to record the win and a good start for the team.

Final Scores
Bolsover B 120 All Out
Clay Cross CC 121-3

Clay Cross CC beat Bolsover B by 2 Wickets

Thanks to Paul "Bob" Evans for the details.
