Bad Weekend!! 30th/31st August - Match Details
By Jon Branson - September 2 2003
Details from the weekend as the 1st entertained Darley Abbey, the 2nds travelled to Cromford Meadows and the 3rds welcomed Newstead A&V to Sharley Park. >

Three games were played over the weekend as the 1st team faced 3rd placed Darley Abbey at Sharley Park knowing a good result could more or less secure 2nd place in 3 North. However after a good bowling display a glorious England style batting collapse saw them bowled out and gift the opposition a vaulable 27 points. Things weren't much better for the 2nd team as they struggled to a low score batting first at Cromford. After a decent start the batting folded and Cromford cruised to their target.

The 3rds restored some pride on Sunday as they entertained Newstead Abbey at a breezy and chilly Sharley Park. Watching the game from the comfort of the newly aquired settee, despite stories of its history from Dring, and some heating the 3rds posted a very respectable total and had the opposition in trouble but they couldn't get the last couple of wickets as the game ended in a draw. However thanks to the Mansfield League scoring system they still gained more points that they managed to get for their 9 wicket win the previous week. A very amusing end to the day saw a number of the team being delayed in reaching the pub as Sec. Tache decided it would be better to take the pavilion keys home rather than leave them with the lads to lock up!!
