Swanick Hall 74 All Out (Dring 3-29, Carley 5-0)
Clay Cross beat Swanick Hall by 8 Wickets
Steady Start Until The Veteran Golden Arm Appears
Swanwick skipper, Rich Leam elected to bat first on another hot day It looked to be a good decision with the openers, A Stewart and N Fretwell, reaching 29 in the 10th over. Send for Golden Arm !!
DD removed Fretwell and then had Stewart LBW with the score on 43. The dangerous Ant Parry was LBW first ball to leave the visitors 43-3. Did I hear the bowler utter, "Thanks uncle !!"
The contentious dismissal of R Wells soon made it 46-4.
John (Don't Be Shy) Green welcomed the rare opportunity to bowl and was unlucky not to pick up more than the one wicket in his 6 over spell.
Hawaii - 5 - 0
M Howett and D Green took the score to 61 before James Carley was introduced into the attack.
| 3rd ball | Green | LBW |
| 4th ball | Leam | Bowled |
| 7th ball | Towsland | Bowled |
| 11th ball | Shoebridge | Bowled |
| 17th ball | Fisher | Bowled |
In an amazing 3 over spell he had claimed 5 wickets without conceding a run. Someone get out the record books !!
It is believed that Tache once had 6-1 and Greenhalgh took 5-2 against Darley Dale juniors. However, the best bowling is 9-19 by Gary Hibbitt - see the stats section for more details.
Jon Branson picked up the final wicket to leave Swanwick 74 all out. M Howett (22 not out) had witnessed most of the carnage.
The Reply
Despite spirited bowling from R Leam and D Green, Clay Cross reached the total in 17 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. Sawley & LE Park will be the visitors in Round 2.
