The Derbyshire County Cricket League 2003 season finally got underway this weekend and after the sunny weather all the games on Saturday were played. The Clay Cross 1st team didn't have a game with their scheduled fixture away to Heanor Town having been moved to the end of July due to football but the 2nd team entertained Saltergate/Wingerworth at a damp and chilly Sharley Park. The Sunday side were also due to be in action but the weather got the better of them as the home game against Swanick Hall was cancelled due to heavy rain. Fortunately the weather didn't affect a friendly team that travelled to South Wingfield.
