The Way We Do Things

The Way We Do Things
The West BeerFest is now a regular part of the Hartlepool social scene. Each year attendances have gone up and so have the numbers of ales, lagers and ciders on offer. This is how it all works ...
There are now 30 cask ales on offer and we are delighted to say we have not have a single complaint about beer quality from last year's BeerFest.

That's testament to our hours of intensive testing, and to the skill of our bar manager Gordon Wright who is a former Cellarman of the Year.

It also has a lot to do with bringing in a lot of quality ales from expert cask ale brewers, investing in the racking and cooling equipment  to keep them just right and, even more importantly in our opinion, in ensuring that every single ale comes through a beer engine to give it life, oxygen and release those flavours.

We know that some beer festivals have many more beers, but have to dispense them from the tap. Some people prefer their beer that way - our feeling is that you simply cannot beat a good handpull.

The West WineBar is also a major feature - thanks to the expert taste buds of our adopted Kiwi and former Premiership rugby player Jamie Connolly. He'll be back with his corkscrew.

The summer of 2013 provided such a hot day that we are also now offering a selection of specialist top quality chilled lagers as well as half a dozen top ciders.

We  also have live music in the marquee - and we are very much a family rugby club so during the day there'll be lots of fun bouncy things for kids to play on.

Despite vat increases etc we have kept the ticket to a tenner and it will get you exactly the same as before.

 How It Works

You can buy your ticket on on the door. It will get you admission,  your engraved half pint tankard or wine glass [yours to keep], your copy of the entertaining and informative West BeerFest Digest, and  either four beer chits or three wine chits.

Just take a chit along to the bar of your choice - ale, lager, cider or wine - and get your glass filled. When you want another just take your glass back.

Once you've got the taste a fiver will get you more four more beer/lager chits or three wine chits.

Cheers!
