Not a lot of people know that..

Just to continue in the vein of all my rugby related posts!! Here's a little story for you as to how this came about. I was having a conversation with somebody who we shall call 'Melarnie'(certainly not Mel, there's no 'r' in her name) when she came out with one of her very, very interesting facts. This was followed with a suitable pause of oohh, wasn't that interesting, only to be broken with her turning looking at me and going... yes you guessed it!
'Not a lot of people know that'

So my challenge to you is what random but factually interesting things can you enlighten the masses with. Having played some quizzes with you all, I know you've got some crackers up your sleeve. So to start the ball rolling..

Polar bears are meant to right handed( quite how they tested this theory I don't know)....

I believe singer Chaka Khan used both right and left hands when warbling which leads me on to the next tenuous and Ho related fact...

Singer Chaka Khan came out with a line of chocolates called "Chakalates."

Which incidently did not make breaking ground in the parrot food division of pet stores because Parrots can not eat chocolate as it is poisonous to them

This led to a parrot uprising when it was revealed 40 percent of the almonds in the world are used by manufacturers of chocolate

However, chocolates were particularly popular with space nerds when M&M's chocolates were chosen to be part of the astronauts food supply in 1982

Not a lot of people know that or those or anything really

Sticking to the topic of left handedness, only a tiny handful of marine gastropods (snails) are left-handed, while a much larger percentage of landsnais (gastropods which live on the land rather than in the sea) are left handed...

On the bears (pronounced "beers" if you are kiwi and reading this) theme...

The fingerprints of koala bears are virtually indistinguishable from those
of humans, so much so that they could be confused at a crime scene! Not a lot of people know that...

how exactly can you tell if a snial is left or right handed? I've never seen a snail hand so am convinced that they are kept hidden deep within their shell...dirty things

Mel,

At last. A scientific study to back up a statement. (Take note everyone, I require proof!).

I kneel at the font of your superior gastropod knowledge.

The characters Bert and Ernie on Sesame Street were named after Bert the cop and Ernie the taxi driver in Frank Capra's "Its A Wonderful Life."
