been to Pro4Sport this afternoon

our club teamwear site will be set up very soon, with loads of club branded kit available to purchase

the kit is subsidised by Pro4Sport so you basically get branded kit for the same price as if you'd buy just the normal unbranded kit

we also have a portal for Pro4Sport where if you go to the website through it and buy anything (except the subsidised teamwear) the club gets 10% back - we have £33 in our account already - if you go to the shop and say your from Clay Cross CC any in shop purchases also go onto this

So if you need any new kit a way of helping the club at the same time is to get it from Pro4Sport.

The Teamwear does not attract the 10% back deal as it is already subsidised - that is unless we want to raise the prices of everything by 10% and have that coming to the club?

I will get all the links we need together and do a sort of newsletter thing that'll be distributed at nets and will also go on here as a news story with permanent links to the club shop portal and Teamwear sites.

And I've bought a 3lb 1oz Biggest Kahuna - it's the most gorgeous piece of wood I have ever set eyes on, and is MASSIVE!

Thanks for all your efforts on this Planty. Sounds a fantastic idea. The club will be selling the sponsored shirts & caps direct but this new shop means you can get other items with the club logo at good prices so if you want a club sweater or shorts they will be available.

How come some of this kit is not supplied free of charge by the club Chief?

Thats not a pi$$ take question there, just wondered why!

I presume the plan is to sell caps and shirts at somewhere between free and full price so that we get cheaper stuff but the club makes a few pounds on it to swell the coffers.

If that is the case then its not that bad as some clubs you visit where they charge full price for club branded kit.

In terms of this club shop who is going to be the first to purchase a Clay Cross CC branded bag!!!

Because if we provided it free we would have -£700 in the bank rather than nothing. Doubt that there are many clubs out there that provide free kit.

The club will be earning nothing from the pro4Sport club shop but it does give us the oppotunity to have club branded kit available for those who want to buy it.

If you buy other kit from them eg bats & bags & boots the club will get a kickback & I understand that their prices are competitive.

Planty has alrady bought his club logoed thong.

All i'm saying is with all the membership rises and weekly match fees etc I dont think it would be too unreasonable to get a shirt and cap chucked in with that or a training top from the new shop etc.

I can understand wanting to make something on the kit and think its fair to do so but on the back of increased membership and subs i think we need to be careful that we dont start pricing people out of wanting to play and need to be careful what we price the shirts at. A lot of people could quite rightly say they have a perfectly good shirt already so why should they change it but then its not going to look good having people running round with different sponsors on so a balance is needed.

Could get expensive by the time people have forked out membership, bought a shirt and cap, bought other stuff like trousers etc that they need before they even start with match subs.

Dave...the only way to get training tops free will be to find someone willing to pay for them and then getting them sorted via Pro4Sport. Buying shirts, jumpers, tops, shorts etc from there will make nowt for the club but just makes it easy to give a unified look to our players. Pro4Sport basically subsidise the kit in terms of printing etc.

if club wants to make money on this kit we'd have to increase the price people pay for it and give the difference to the club

what it does do is make a lot of different club branded kit available if people want it and means no poor bugger has to go round getting sizes, orders, money, then go to a kit shop and buy loads of kit and then take them to a printers to print them all up - the club would make very little money out of doing it this way anyway! You buy what you want, when you want, either via the internet or by going into the Pro4Sport shop which is in Chesterfield.

Any other kit that people buy from pro4sport gives the club 10% and as I said, we already have £33.45 in the kitty from this, so I'll give out all addresses you need when I get them and I would advise anyone that needs kit to get it from Pro4Sport - I was there last night and the prices are good, and there is a sale on at the moment

The shirts and caps will not be on the club shop as we are getting these seperately, and will be sold directly to members from the club.

dave, what other clubs do you know of, that provide FREE caps/shirts/training tops and have annual subs at £40.( and £10 to play) you ask around this season when you play some new opposition, how much they have to pay to play cricket and what they get for free, i think you will be surprised.

do you not realise that we have sweet fanny adams £££££ wise to our name. if you want free kit, my best advise would be, ask around and try get an individual to pay out their own pocket and sponsor some kit. if u carnt or carnt be bothered to do this, then i would say we are not going to be in a postition to GIVE out FREE kit, or the club would end up loosing money. if you are able to secure a private sponsor that will pay for all this kit, then we may be in a position to offer very cheap kit, or even the odd free item. i'll leave it with you.

For those few of who will be paying full subs this year (aprrox £270 all told) over the 6 months of the season, I just dont think its totally out of order to chuck us a shirt or cap for nowt thats all.

Dont get me wrong, im not trying to stir sh!t or owt or rock the boat. Just my humble opinion.

Please look at the accounts that were given out at the agm & look at what we have to pay out for ground maintenance, lease on pavilion, & match day costs such as teas, umpires & scorers. We also have to find £275 for half season of matchballs then another £275 in July for the other half ( We have been chasing ball sponsorship & so far have only 2)
No names, but individuals have loaned &/or donated money this year to buy things we can't really afford.

We are not looking to rip people off We hope people will buy a sponsored shirt badged up with club logo at a price lower than a plain shirt on the pro4sport website direct from the club. Also caps will be offered at the same terms.
The idea of the shop is to provide extra club kit over & above a shirt & cap at the same price as plain kit. Nobody is forced to buy it but it gives us a better range of goods for people who do want to buy it. The club won't make anything on these, even though we could have taken an option to make money on the deal!

It would delight all of us if we could dish out kit to everyone & to have enough money in the bank to do it but in reality we never will unless somebody wins the lottery.
Everything we have done to improve the ground, pavilion & dressing rooms along with new sightscreens has been done by scrounging half tins of paint, 2nd hand kitchen units, by being savvy on applying for grants, kind donations of money & time by club members & using the skills from club members from useless pen pushers like me who can only labour & push a brush to plumbing, painting, carpet laying & welding (that was you Dave)

I can see both sides here and have some sympathy with what Dave is saying,

Can someone answer the following questions:

1) what is the annual membership this year for seniors, juniors, students and unemployed.
2) what are the match fees for seniors, juniors, students and unemployed

I understand the club has no money but why is it that always the onus comes back to the working senior members of the club?

In recent seasons we have given away kit to the juniors and we only charge a nominal net / match fee when other clubs as i have previously mentioned charge both. What are the net fees for the juniors? I understand that some kids cant pay a lot however there needs to be some contribution to show a commitment if nothing else.

I also dont see why students and unemployed should be given reduced match fees especially in the student cases as they will only use the money saved in town on a saturday night.

I have absolutely no problem if match fees and memberships have gone up but the burden needs to be shared equally not just on one section of the membership.

Great debate / comment though it had its airing at the recent A.G.M. Next years A.G.M. things may be different?

Thank you Albert. You are correct in that all this was debated at the agm (I suspect it was a best ever turnout) wher 3 optons were put to the milling throng to debate & vote on.

This is the third time i have asked the same question regarding match fees and membership ( i asked twice on the wallet opening time thread).

Maybe it is some form of clandestine punishment that we are not informing members of the decisions of the AGM who did not attend.

Again i have no problem with parting with my cash as long as the burden is shared.

Can a club official answer my question above or post the minutes of the AGM somewhere on the site?

Annual Subs - Adult £40 (less for juniors - not sure how much)
Match Fee - Adult 1st team £10, 2nd and 3rds £8 - Juniors again less, may have been £5 in 1sts and £4 in 2nds and 3rds

not sure if above is 100% correct, apologies if not, but sure we voted that 1sts pay more as umpires are more expensive as are balls for divsion 1

Match Fees
Seniors £10 in 1st team & £8 in 2nds & 3rds
16 - 18 £6 in all teams
under 16 £3 in all teams

There was no desire at the agm to charge the juniors but Dave & John do charge a match fee which is left up to them. Junior cricket costs nowt (no strip cut, no umpire or scorers fees) We also make a fair bit over the bar. Takings for a junior game are sometimes on a par with those on a Saturday!!!
Take your point on shirts but on reflection we were wrong there.

Dave Clarke tells me that he is picking the new shirts up suitably badged up & they will be available to see & purchase £20 next Thursday. Hopefully the caps will also be available soon & Planty is working hard to ensure the Pro4Sport shop is going on line soon.
