Club Outing

a couple of us think a team bonding exercise is a good idea

so we propose a trip with overnight stay in cheap digs and basically a load of beer

provisionally thinking Saturday 7th March, driving over late morning/early afternoon, getting lashed and coming back on the Sunday

destinations mentioned are York, Skeggy, Whitby, Bridlington, Blackpool, Scarborough, anywhere really!

all welcome

more details to follow

Have had my doubts about some of our players for a while & an "outing" will , I am sure, be good to clear up doubts on sexuality & if one does it then the other six might follow.

its my 40th on the 4th of march so would be great way to celebrate.

anywhere but skeggy. torquay is excellent in summer. not sure about march though and maybe a bit far to go (3 - 4 hrs).

I'm not fussed about the likes of Skeggy or Blackpool...been there, done that, avoided a kicking in them!! Whitby or Whitley Bay would be a good laugh and not that far.

Had a couple of nights in Torquay before and its good but as you say its a bit of a trek for one night.

Other option is the big city night out in somewhere like Manchester, London (travel by train) or Broad Street, Birmingam which is a cracking night out.

all ideas welcome

I'm also not too keen on Skeg, went in November and isn;t good night out, the locals are far too inbred and violent!

If not the coast then how's about a night out in a random City/Town

looking at the web Travelodge/Ibis style City centre hotels are about £40-50 for a night so up to £25 each

ideally I want to do cheaper than this, so was thinking of looking at listings on Yell.com and ringing round a few B&Bs that don't have websites

if we get a decent size group together then we'll have a laugh wherever we go

could do with getting numbers though in next couple of weeks then we can sort summat, so all you married types can you ask for passes please?

travelodge do £10 rooms if you book in advance so maybe we look where the deals are and go there?

£10 if you are lucky....what generally happens is that you search, find them for a tenner but by the time you book and have to pay its mysteriously gone up to £19.99 or £29.99 a room.

Travelodge got a sale on at moment, but when I looked at dinner was £40 a room most places

just to put somewhere else in mind you could do to york always a good night out & also if anyone is interested there might be a race meet on the sat for double the fun, also you could go by train as on main line (i think?) ,but a main city sounds better than the coast

Wetherspoons lodge in Birmingham is £50 a twin room (that's £25 each for those who are bad at maths)

I'm assured Birmingham is a great night out

Thoughts?

Sort out where you are going & I will seek out some 4 or 5 star accommodation that I can stay in & will meet up with you all.

4 or 5 star accommodation? more proof that Chief is nothing more than a Champagne Socialist

all his talk of revolution is just bull

probably got a portrait of Maggie Thatcher in his front room

I'll have a look round and provide options when we start nets, should be fun, just need someone to volunteer to look after Lord Hartley when he falls asleep after his 3rd pint!

True socialists believe everyone should enjoy the good life & in a proper world we would all enjoy 4 & 5 star comforts. There would be plenty of space available too after all you Daily Mail/Express readers have been put up against a wall & shot.
