Speaking from experience (when Sarah did the teas for the seconds), there is nothing worse than having to do a shop and prepare teas before going to play cricket, it sucks!!

So that looks as though players doing it is out the window and we dont really want to pay the caterers to do it again so whats the other options?

Not a pop at anyone....just trying to provoke suggestions ahead of the meeting so we dont spend ages thinking about it at the meeting and dragging it out for hours!!

find someone connected to a club member who is happy to be a tea person

if players won't/can't do it (and I agree that it is not ideal for a player to do the tea) then your only options are caterers or the traditional tea lady

If were losing money on teas why dont we adjust the price we charge the opposition by say a fiver overall and then add an extra quid on to subs each week or an extra £2 for home games etc to make some back.

An idea perhaps would be to have a tea fundraising kitty where any cash raised would go towards the costs each week and can only be used for this purpose. Another couple of football matches or something along them lines would do it.


I just think all 3 teams this year have massive seasons ahead of them on the field and the players could do without the distractions of sorting out sandwiches before the game or worrying about how many tea bags weve got in the pot etc.

League rules mean we can't charge more to the opposition than we currently do at £37 per week.

am I right in thinking that the 3rds don't have to provide teas if we don't want to

and obviously this will be spoken about at the AGM but IF I am doing other official type duties on match days I would rather not make the teas as well

and Bravo is better at it than me an all

not having a pop but if the thirds cant / wont provide teas and we dont have to provide them then you have your answer. quite simple really.

oh and Pol Planty if the bloodless coup goes ahead and you become el president for life of the seconds does this mean my place is guaranteed as i will be doing the teas???;-)

i agree with greendog, if no 1 in 3rs puts their hands up to make teas, then i wudnt bother-they cud always have the left overs!!!

IF planty does succeed me and take over and fill my very successful shoes, then all he will have to do, after hes had a poo, puked his guts up, and sobered up, is;- make 100 phone calls in the week(however this will be considerably easier now tom holmes has joined the inbreds), get to EVERY practice net, to try and talk sum sense into mr bhatt and mr greenhalgh, give clarky the bad news, get to ground early on sats, sort lifts for them that dont drive wen playing away, give jobs to everybody, be nice to away capt(sumthing i found particularly hard to do), look after 10 plebs for the next 6 hours, make sure tea is ready, give umpires balls and try and bum them up so to give u an lbw during game, win a game of cricket, be nice to away team, fill in more paperwork than gordon browns secretary has to do, ring in result, have a beer, go home and put result on play cricket. - thats all.

A massive thank you for probably the best turn out ever for an AGM. Thanks also for the positive contributions from everyone there. The challenge now is to put all the thoughts & visions in place & to continue to push the club forward.
