3rd Team Game
Posted by: Chief 2 (IP Logged)

The forecast after today is reasonable & from Thurs onwards is predicting some sunshine. With the water on the new ground however this may not be enough to save the game. It would have a better chance however if we could somehow get some of the surface water away. I am proposing that we go up to the ground at 6.30 on Thurs armed with a brush & at least make some sort of effort, but I aint doing it on my own. Anybody else prepared to try it?

Said it before and say it again....i'd be surprised if more than 10/11 people in total from the club read this board let alone a single team so its no shock very few have posted on this topic. Suspect, and hope, there will be more response to the text message that Tache has sent out.

see you tomorrow night then greenie.

This is a club problem not just for the third team.

doubt it. and its not a problem for me.

we have it all on to get some of the younger ones to help set up and put away on match days so so dont think they'll be rushin out. Clarkey calls games off at the drop of a hat, often without callin people who are available (Tom Holmes, Chief to name but a few). if he goes tomorrow all he will do is moan about how crap it is and that theres no chance of gettin it ready etc etc. so if i did go i could see meself rushin about for a couple of hours gradually gettin more p1ssed off, no thanks.

and before anyone starts about team spirirt etc. when we were puttin away against codnor someone i will not name walked straight across the pitch, almost tripping over a boundary marker and didnt offer help in the slightest. quite rightly he didnt have to but picking up a few boundary markers would have been a nice gesture.

Appologies to Tache, Chief, yourself and other like minded individuals how put a lot of effort in but i do enough running around after the seconds on matchdays.

Whilst i'm thinking about it when i was talking to Rich the last week he mentioned that he had a pump that may be able to shift a lot of the water....or at least i think he did!!

Just returned from the ground & sadly there is no chance of play on either ground with the ne ground almost totally under water & the old groundlike a swamp in every area.In addition the muppets from the council have decided to cut the outfield today & whoever was driving the tractor has nanaged to do handbrake turns all over it & it now resembles a WW1.
battlefield.
If you want to go up this weekend though it is Clay Cross gala & because of the weather the Pikey dodgem boys have set up in the car park.

Do all the winners get a pair of clogs or those wooden sandal type things. Or maybe it could be a foot treatment for running and coming last!
