Rovers U15s 0 West U15s 61 (21/11/10) With Jaspal Dhillon and Sam Miller clocking up a hat trick each West ran in eleven tries in total to run away with a 61 – 0 victory in icy cold, wet and windy conditions.

West pressurised the home team from the kick off when winger Henry Stewart failed to gather a pass from Luke Armstrong on the 5 meter line. Rovers managed to clear their lines from the resultant scrum but were immediately put back under pressure.

Kyle Jamison released Second rower Garry Owens on a storming run up the middle of the park gain good ground before setting up a ruck. The ball was moved quickly through Luke Armstrong, Adam Phillips to Jaspal Dhillon who still had lots of work to do his pace and strong hand off put him through for an unconverted try 0 – 5.

From the restart West pressed deep into the Rovers half and when they were awarded a 5 meter scrum Lewi Pattinson picked up from the base of the scrum to dart down the blindside and dive over for an unconverted try 0 – 10.

The game was interrupted when a Rovers player went down injured after sustaining a nock to his head when making a tackle, with the player taken off to hospital play was resumed. All at West send their best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Hooker Sam Miller was next on the score card following a clean catch and drive at a lineout by Luke Chapman the ball was released quickly at the resultant ruck for Sam to crash over for an unconverted try 0 – 15.

Rovers were then reduced to 14 men when the referee was quick to show a red card for kicking in a ruck.

Connor Turner added a further 7 points when he converted his own try following a penalty just inside the home 22, 0 – 22.

Jaspal Dhillon added his second try when the backs combined well Luke Armstrong feeding Adam Phillips who ghosted through Rovers defence before releasing Dhillon to sprint away for a try, Connor Turner adding the extra 2 points 0 – 29.

Jaspal gained his hat trick just before half time when he burst through the defensive line following two quick tap penalties 0 – 34.

West coaches made whole sale changes at half time providing fresh legs to push home the advantage. West chased the kick off and caught Rovers in possession, Connor McClurg and Luke Chapman combining well to rob the ball at the maul and with some excellent driving play from their forwards rolled play over 20 metres before setting up a ruck. Adam Phillips at scrum half popped the ball up to Captain Sam Miller for his second try, Connor Turner adding the conversion 0 – 41.

Second half substitute Liam Crone showed his strength and pace coming into the line from depth to race through the cover defence and touch down wide out 0 – 46.

From the restart Adam Phillips was quick to add a try which was just reward for his all round performance at centre and scrum half. With the forwards driving the home side back to set up a ruck Phillips threw a dummy to create space then took full advantage and strode through the gap to score 0 – 51.

Sam Millet took a clean catch at the restart and set off on a jinking run deep into Rovers half and looked certain to score but Rovers cover defence stopped him on the 5 metre line but were penalised at the breakdown. Adam Phillips took a quick tap and broke down the blindside before feeding Miller to crash over 0 – 56.

Adam Phillips had the final say when he added his second try following a trademark jinking run and touchdown wide out to finish the game 0 – 61.
