Percy Park Preview

By Dave Picken - February 14 2020
Percy Park Preview Joe Rafferty made a welcome return to action at Scarborough last week and will start in the second row against Percy Park alongside another experienced player in Carl Miller.

Both came off the bench last week to make a positive impact and their experience could prove invaluable as the wind and rain looks likely to be a major factor.

Danny Cookland also returned to action last week in the second row - he's back in  a more familiar front row berth as we field one of our biggest packs for some time.

That is in part because of injuries to Adam Brown and  Liam Bailey last week and the unavailability of Jake Linighan.

Brownie has been nursing a shoulder injury for a few weeks and needs rest, while  Bailey received a nasty injury after scoring the second of his tries. The double knee drop he suffered after he dived in has resulted in a very badly swollen leg.

Fortunately,Chris Atkins is available to resume at No 8 with Alex Barker and Ben Armstrong continuing on the flanks - the latter having spent the week building up his upper body strength through a strict regime of handstands.

The backs will be unchanged as we look to recreate Fortress Brinkburn. We are unbeaten so far in 2020 - including toppling second place Cleckheaton last time out.

This week fellow strugglers Percy Park will provide a different kind of opposition as they have a chance of overhauling Durham City to avoid the third relegation place. City, of course, still have to visit.
