Morpeth Preview

Morpeth Preview It wasn't only Ryan Painter who got a bloody nose in the game at Morpeth back in September. The hosts stopped us scoring any points that day and managed to run in 43 if their own against a youthful West ..

It was the start of a run which now sees the Northumbrians top of the league.

So life isn’t getting any easier n the fight to avoid relegation from North One East. Last week we failed to break the away duck - at second bottom Percy Park - and must now try to pick ourselves up for the visit of the league.

Fortunately, Brinkburn has been a happier hunting ground with all four wins coming at Catcote Road.

There are still one of two fitness issues in the pack but we will be boosted by the return of prop Adam Coates and playmaker Gavin Painter. Liam Austwicke is also now fit  and will make only his third appearance of the season at full back.

Rob Thorn also returned to action last week and was voted our Man of the Match by the Percy Park players - despite not being match fit.

That allows Liam Checksfield to move inside to partner Peter Youll with the in-form Will Hilditch, one of the few stand-out out players so far, on the other wing.

They'll face an experienced and well organised Morpeth side whose defence at Mitford Road was exceptional.

West squad: Liam Austwicke, Will Hilditch, Liam Checksfield, Peter Youll, Rob Thorn, Gavin  Painter, Ryan Painter (captain), Adam Coates, Andrew Rollins, Ross Wood, Jake Linighan, John Bunter, Scott Butcher, Jordan Foulds, Andrew Turner, Dan Boatman, Zac Southern, Adam Brown, Craig Hadwen
