MEMBERS INFORMATION 17th MAR 2015

The accounts booklets which contain the AGM notice have been sent out today and they should be arriving on your doorsteps over the next few days. Also contained in the envelope is the Chairmans report which we would ask you take time to read if you get the chance. It is Paul Brennan’s last report as Chairman as he steps down after the AGM and I would like to thank him for all his hard work on behalf of the Club during his time on Committee, he will be missed.

I have attached an updated events sheet for April which now includes information on some further social events due to take place with particular mention going to the Race Night on Friday 17th April which will be the new Captain’s first event after the Drive In. Spaces are still available for the comedy evening on Saturday 28th March and if anyone would like to attend the sheet is on the door next to the bar.

Not long before the Saturday competitions start on 4th April with the Hardy Wilson Bowl qualifier and the start sheet will be posted in the gent’s locker room on Wednesday 25th March at 17.30. Remember no sheets are posted for midweek competitions. Also this is a final reminder that the deadline for entries to the knockout events close at 12.00 on Tuesday 24th March. Please note that entry fees must be paid before the draw is made.

We have invested in a new brush that fits to the greens machine that brushes the grass before the blades cut the green to try and reduce the amount of broad leafed species we have within the surface and we hope this will bring an improvement to the putting surfaces. The greens were cut using the brush yesterday and they looked pretty good this morning. They were fertilised today and what we need now is a some warmth and not too much rain so we can start top dressing within the next week or so.

On the subject of rain I have an apology to make. Last week I foolishly tempted fate by saying that spring was in the air and that buggies were allowed on the courseas it had dried out so much only for almost an inch of rain to fall on Thursday night which meant buggies were no longer allowed as the course was too wet. I would like to personally apologise to the members who were disappointed that buggies were not available at the weekend. I am happy to take full responsibility for this bad weather as long as I get some credit when we have a few sunny days just to balance things out a little :-)

Kind Regards
