A couple of items to make you aware of this week and the first is that the Ladies are holding a fundraising Bridge afternoon this Friday from 13.30 till about 16.00 in the Lounge. There will be about 14 tables set up for this event so the Lounge will be fairly busy during this period.

Welcome back from holiday to Will and Caroline who are ready for a busy few weeks in the run up to Christmas. The refurbishments to both the kitchen and what was the “dirty bar” were completed whilst they were away at their own expense and I would urge anyone who has not had a peep into what was the pool room to do so as the change is remarkable. It has transformed a room that was very rarely if ever used into an asset for the Club which can be used as an overflow for the restaurant, a meeting room or a private area for smaller parties/societies.

Finally for this week the Committee have decided that, following a recommendation from the County representative and in line with the CONGU regulations that in future all singles strokeplay qualifying competitions at the Club will be played off full handicap instead of the maximum limit being 18. This change will give everyone a fair chance and ensure that the Competition Standard Scratch is a more accurate reflection of the conditions of the day.

Kind Regards

Brian Rumney
