The 3rd wettest May on record has been followed by a months worth of rainfall in the first 10 days of June which has caused several events to be cancelled including the Club Championship qualifiers that were due to be played last Sunday.

The Competitions Committee met last night and have arranged the following. The qualifier for both the first and second division Club Championships will now take place on Saturday 5th July. The Azure trophy scheduled for that date will be moved till later in the season and a fully revised fixture list will be sent out shortly which will include rearranged dates for the Brough and Bradbury Cups as well as the Andrews Trophy which had to be abandoned last weekend.

The quarter finals of both Club Championships will take place on Tuesday 8th July with the semi final and final taking place the following Sunday 13th July. We apologise to any members who will now miss this event due to the change in date.

In future if a Competition starts on a Saturday and then the course becomes unplayable later in the day the Competitions Committee have decided the result will stand if 65% or more of the field have completed their rounds. If this figure is not reached the event will be abandoned and replayed at a future date. Any player that has been unable to complete his round due the weather conditions will have their entry fee credited against future Competiton entries.

No Competition results to report because of the weather but there is news regarding the Order of Merit. Runaway leader Gavin Foster is going to be working away for a couple of months which gives those behind a chance to make up some ground although with the nearest two challengers Steve Hepplewhite and Andy Lynch I don’t think Gavin will be losing too much sleep.

There also has been a change of date for the Barbeque which will now be held on Saturday 19th July. Tickets are on sale behind the bar for what should be a really good night and they are priced at £10 for Adults and £5 for children under 16.

I have been asked by the Committee to clarify the position regarding the ordering of food that is to be consumed in the Lounge particularly when the dining room is busy. It would be a great help it those who intended to sit in the Lounge would please order and pay for their food at the small counter on the left hand side as you enter the dining room. Thank you for your co-operation.

Kind Regards

Brian Rumney
