MEMBERS INFORMATION 27th MAY 2014

Bad news to report this week as the competition on Saturday had to be abandoned due to the course becoming unplayable midway through the afternoon. The event will be replayed later in the season and although the results for those who had completed their rounds was processed this has now been reversed and no handicap changes will be made. Apologies to those who had returned good scores in the morning but with the course becoming unplayable in the afternoon it was felt that this was the fairest decision. All those who had paid entry monies on Saturady will be credited for their next competition entry.

We were able to play events on Sunday and Monday however and the Sunday sweep was won by Steven Ashley with 36 points on a countback from Paul Dunn with Steve Robinson finishing third a further shot behind.

The Bank Holiday sweep was won by Jonny Lynn with a fantastic score of 40 points playing off scratch meaning he shot 4 under par gross which is the lowest gross score anyone has returned so far this year. Second was James Maconochie with 39 points with Paul Soulsby third with 38.

With the most recent results all processed the order of merit shows Gavin Foster out in front by over 60 points from Steve Hepplewhite with Andy Lynch (yes Andy Lynch!!) currently third.

The league team continued their good form so far this year with an 8 – 4 victory away at the Bridle Path (Gosforth Golf Club) with Steven Ashley and Jonny Lynn maintaining their 100% records so far this year. Several other matches due to be played that night were postponed because of the weather so an up to date league table is not available at the moment but I will keep you informed as the season progresses.

Sheets for both Club Championship qualifiers will go up on the board on Wednesday evening at 17.30. There will be 2 seperate sheets so please be careful to enter just the one. Handicaps of 9 or less can play in the Club Championship with those playing off 10 and above can play in the new 2nd Divison Club Championship.

No moans today apart from about the rain but I’m sure I can make up for that in future emails.

Kind Regards

Brian Rumney
