The ladies Club Championship semi final and final was held on the 19th August along with the 18 hole final of the Bronze Championship.

Lauren Smith played Ellie Barnett in the semi final and what a match this was, the match finished on the 21st hole which Lauren won putting her into the final that afternoon.

Jane Bainbridge played Marie Jobson, another good match which finished on the 14th where Jane won, putting her into the final with Lauren.

The weather changed from sunny in the morning to very wet and miserable in the afternoon, but this didn't prevent a good final match.

Both players showing different types of strengths in their games. the match ended on the 14th where Lauren retained the Championship Trophy.

The Bronze Final was played in the morning in full sunshine and both players, Eleanor Allan and Gloria Melrose played some great golf which ended on the 13th where Gloria retained the Bronze Trophy.

Lady Captains Charity

The total amount raised this year for CHUF (my chosen charity) was £2200.00. A cheque was presented on 28th October at Arcot Hall to Dr Simon Haynes, Chairman of the Trustees, Childrens Heart Unit, Freeman Hospital. Dr Haynes was delighted and full of praise for the members of the club who have supported me this year to raise the funds.

End of Year

I have enjoyed my year as Lady Captain although it has been a rather difficult year due to the inclement weather we have had this season. For all of that, there was only one competition which was unable to be played.  I would like to thank my Ladies Committee and all of the members of Arcot Hall for their support this year.

I would also like to thank Brian and the General Committee for their support this year and a huge thank you to the Greens Staff who worked tirelessly to have the course open for my Charity Day also for all of their hard work on my Lady Captains Day.  Well done lads!

A special thank you to Paul Brennan our Club Captain who has given me a great deal of support and encouragement. We have worked and played golf very successfully together winning several competitions even though we had never played golf together in the past. We have supported each others teams and I would like to think that we have carried out our duties in the highest traditions of this wonderful game of golf. Although my Captaincy has come to an end, Paul's hasn't and I would like to wish him every success for the rest of his term as he is a great guy.

I would like to wish everyone at Arcot Hall a very merry Christmas and a much drier 2013.

I also extend my best wishes to Eleanor Allan who takes on the role of Lady Captain for 2013.
