Hartlepool Wanderers

Hartlepool Wanderers, 1897/1898 Season
The Wanderers club flourished through the 1890s and the early years of the 20th century, winning the Hartlepools' Junior Cup in 1893 and again in 1898 when they overcame West Hartlepool East End, 9-3.

Though regular competitors, they were not as successful in the Junior Cup, although they reached the Final of 1894 going down to Henderson's Creelers, a factory side from Durham City. Later they were founder members of the Pyman League and were runners up for the League title in 1910/11 season.

The club half-backs were to become one of the most famous half-back pairings the Hartlepools has ever produced, when on joining Hartlepool Rovers, they went on to represent the County on 58 occasions between them, in County careers that stretched right through to 1913 and encompassed the golden period for the county during the 1900s.
