The
run took place on windy but mild Saturday of January 27th and proved
to be a good turn out. 20 players of the well-committed team arrived eager to
go, in order to run the 3km race. Each runner completed the course with sheer
ability and showed astonishing determination.
The
fundraiser was followed by ‘Ryton versus Ponteland’, which allowed many
youths to sell programmes and carry out a variety of other fund raising ideas.
A generous amount of money was raised thanks to other donations from club
members, volunteers, staff and parents, which totalled to an amazing keep of
£650.00, yet more money is flowing in.
With
further help from Ryton RFC, teammates aim to buy various equipment such as
tracksuits or ‘smart’ RUFC shirt and ties, in order to honour the clubs
generosity and reputation.
Ryton Youth Chairman Graeme Dance
commented, “Their enterprise has been rewarded significantly, and their endless
preparation has paid off with a well earned sum of cash to be used for the U15
players.”
