Official Wells RFC

By Shane Costello - February 19 2008
The colts record produce excellent display to defeat Bristol side Whitehall. Returning student Josh Stewart stars in back row alongside Lewis Cohen who completed a memorable hat-trick. >

Wells were happy to have Josh 'the monster' Stewart back from uni. These two teams took to the field with only a place between them in the league table. However it wasn't very long before Wells strung together numerous phases and scored 7 points courtesy of Lewis Cohen. Then again Wells camped in the oppositions territory and scored a penalty in front of the posts. Then Whitehall contained the home side well until Lewis Cohen scored a turnover and ran the ball in from 70 metres out under hot pursuit from a speedy full back. It was 17-0 at half time.

After some refreshing oranges at the interval Wells set about their work in a similar fashion, with the forwards retaining possession well. With over 20 minutes to play Whitehall's fly half was left to be stretchered off and the game resumed on the adjacent pitch. Straight away some deft kicks from Tim Gibbon had the visitors pinned into the corners and Alex Loxton caught a tricky pass to squirm his way over in the corner. Then to complete a bonus point victory some of the best offloads of the game saw Lewis Cohen score his third try of the day and he willingfully bought a jug after the game.

Man of the match: Lewis Cohen
