MIDSOMER NORTON RFC U/16’s                   0        (00)

WELLS RFC U/16’s                                 36      (05)

Wells travelled to Norton and arrived to a reception of a howling wind, near freezing conditions and horizontal rain; but knew the encounter was going to be far from cold. Tom White’s Wells, won the toss and played in to the wind, and after early exchanges against a heavy Norton Pack, moved the ball wide to make significant yardage gains in to the Home sides half. After periods of exceptional ball handling Wells took the lead after the Wells backs assured hands gave winger Aaron Williams the space to show his pace and with a good step scored his first try for his new club Wells close to the corner. Wells finished the half in the ascendancy 0 – 5 with a deserved lead.

The second half started with Wells asserting their domination; after setting the rolling maul, George Dally from the Half way line rolled off the maul and showed a clean pair of heals to score under the posts, Joe Watson added to conversion. Wells continued to dominate and the hard working lock, Tom Payne added the 3rd try, with Watson adding the conversion. The Wells pack fronting up to the sizable Norton pack enjoyed quality possession and lock Harry Davies scored a memorable 4th try close to the corner. Tom Galpin showed what a valuable member of the Wells team he has become with his all-round commitment and was rewarded by adding the 5th try under the post after showing strength and speed from inside his own half. Wells now going through the phases were rewarded by the backs, when Nick Loxton completed a set play to score the 6th Wells try after the Norton defence couldn’t contain the Wells backs.

Wells on the back of this victory can look forward to their Bristol Plate encounter away at Chew Valley on Sunday 25th November with relish. Thanks to the loyal Wells support who again were fantastic in their support in the testing climate of Midsomer Norton, very much appreciated.
