Wells III 27 North Petherton II 17
Wells put in a much improved performance to gain a league win over a good North Petherton side. From the kick off a determined Wells pack were out to prove they were better than their league position showed; good first phase ball allowed veteran fly-half Chris White to bring in the unlikely centre partnership of Shaun Eton and Mike Brown into play, with Eton making some superb runs through the center, his first run earning the home side a penalty and 3 points, then followed by a try giving Wells an 8 point lead. The Wells side now with a confidence which hadn't been seen for a several weeks began to win the loose ball through the youngsters Mims and Roe, it wasn't long before the next try came. After an injury to Eton and a change to the Wells backs Petheron were able to apply pressure on the Wells line, first gaining a penalty then a shortly afterwards a try bringing the score to 15 to 10 at halftime.
Wells reorganised at halftime and, playing down the slope, scored first with Pullin bulldozing his way over the tryline and with White's sensible use of the boot, and both Corns and Phelps making some good sniping runs through the Petherton defence, it was Wells that looked like they were going to dominate the remainder of the game. But after some dogged defence by the visitors it was they who scored next, with a good break from the Petherton centre, who scored under the posts. However Wells responded almost immediately after Petherton defence fumbled a kick on their line and the ever hungry back three pounced on the spilled ball scoring in the corner.
