Richmond has a proud history of spreading the word of women's rugby - we were the first club team stage a full tour to South Africa, and now we've found ourselves a new frontier - ARGENTINA. It's been 5 years since Richmond went on a big one - you will have noticed those of us who went to South Africa are still be telling the tales in our dotage. This is a club tour, it's not exclusive to 1st XV or impalas, everyone is more than welcome.
The Argentine RU are keen for us to go, and suggest 3 full 15s games in Buenos Aires (probably of different standards so everyone will get plenty of pitch time). After the World Cup, no one can doubt the buzz that surrounds rugby over there.
This is the bare bones of what's on offer, doubtless Ivesey is working on a few little suprises: who could forget the wedding reception in SA (What a surprise, Richmond have another affiliated club for us to terrorise in BA)! Will she get us into the embassy again?
- Return flight to Buenos Aires (negotiated at £650), non refundable deposit of £100 must be paid very soon to secure
- Bed and breakfast in a 4 star hotel with gym and pool (looking at http://artdecohotel.com.ar)
- 3 games to suit all standards with guaranteed pitch time
- Coaching and medical staff travel with us
- Optional excursions to Iguazu Falls etc. (maybe something involving Gauchos?)
- Tour stash
NB maximum cost is £950 pp., note that this will come down with sponsorship and fundraising if EVERYONE WORKS AT IT. The harder we work the cheaper it gets, we will do our best to provide sufficient fundraising opportunities to ensure that noone is excluded on the grounds of cost alone, especially if you're already committed to representing the club in Dubai. A tour committee will be formed, but everyone must realise that these folks cannot raise 25 people (minimum) * say £300 (that's £7500) without some major buy-in from tourists - if you can't be bothered, OK, pay the whole £950. Ideally, we'll be running a savings account to pay the bills as they come in - you're looking at about £100 a month.
