Match Report for the Quins 7s Competition
Winning Team
It was a hot sunny day and the 7s season was in full swing when the mighty pink Ba-Ba’s turned out for their second outing of the season. The inaugural Harlequins 7s at Roehampton Vale.

The squad of 7 had been selected for their dynamism, skill and availability on the day. Captain ‘Sammy’ led out a team representing no less than 4 south east clubs. This reporter thinks it would be fair to say, if Carlsberg made rugby 7s teams then the Pink Ba-Ba’s would be it

Looking resplendent in their team colours of pink, navy and white Sam Wilson, Joey Morgan, Clare Hoppe, Mel Antao, Kate Clemments, Sarah Paddon and Ba-Ba’s virgin Tamsin Reed, took to the field for the first match against Roslyn Park. The pitch was perfect, with white lines painted in the manner of an early 20th century impressionist.

Pink Virgin kicked off the game and the back line came up quick putting pressure on the Roslyn Park attack. Rossyln Park made some good inroads into the Pink Ba-Ba’s defence, but some loose passing gave the pink ba-ba’s some attacking opportunities. Sarah Paddon did what she did best and took the winger on the outside.

The Pink Ba-Ba’s were in the driving seat and added to their first try with some more try’s, from whom this reporter is unsure, but she thinks they must have been good ones! Rossyln Park carefully orchestrated an impressive try helped by Kate and Mel who decided to have a game of “yours” with the Rossyln Park speed merchant. The Pink Ba-ba's came out on top which we all know is a pink ba-ba’s favourite position.

Next was the Pink Ba-ba's versus the Quins. Captain Sammy went for an unchanged line up. Harlequins impressed in rucks and the mauls and showed their class in the scrums. Unfortunately they were not in a win win situation. The pace of Kate and Sarah on the wings, the lightening quick decision making skills of Sammy and Tamsin. The Hoppe confusion play of “I’ve got the Ball, no I haven’t, yes I have” combined with Mel’s general love of the “Pull” call in the scrum, and the unforgettable now famous Joey Duggan “look at her spin, look at her go where the ball’s going nobody knows” pass, ensured that it was 2 wins out of two for the Pink Ba-Ba’s.

Rosslyn Park subsequently beat Quins to end a very enjoyable afternoon in the sun.

All this is good preparation for the Wednesday night Wimbledon 7s tournament starting on the 21st Jun.

This reporter would like to thank those that made this tournament possible and those that made it special. Than you very much and your mum.
