Official Pink Ba-Bas
Dubai 7s 2006 Pink Ba-Bas Name Squad for Dubai 7s
By Mel Antao - November 20 2007
The Pink Ba-Bas have named a competitive squad full of youth and experience for their second attendance at the Emirates Airline Dubai Sevens at the Dubai Exiles rugby ground from Thursday 29 November to Saturday 1 December 2007. >

The Dubai Sevens is the first round of the International Rugby Board Sevens World Series, and 2007 marks the 38th running of this prestigious rugby event.

This year will be the biggest event to date with over 2,000 players taking part and more than 32,000 spectators per day. It is anticipated that more than 12,000 overseas visitors will attend.

The Pink Ba-Bas will be led by Captain Janette Shaw and have drawn last years finalists, the Irish Babas and Wooden Spoon who contain a number of current and former England internationals and have won the Stockholm 10s, Kinsale and Amsterdam 7s.

Squad: Mel Antao (Harlequins), Chantel DeSenna (Richmond), Amy Gibbons (Harlequins), Julie Gilbert (Saracens), Cally Hocknell (Harlequins), Clare Hoppe (Richmond), Jo Kingston (Richmond), Claire McKenna (Old Albanians), Sarah McKenna (Old Albanians), Jo O’Sullivan (Richmond), Katy Rule (Henley), Janette Shaw (Teddington Antlers) and Katy Strudwick (Harlequins).

Management: Sharon Gosling and Michelle Kendell.

Technical Support: Sandra Elfast (Stockholm Exiles).

Most of the squad will be arriving a full five days before the tournament and will have plenty of time to acclimatise to the weather and familiarise themselves with what Dubai has to offer before matches kick off.

The Pink Ba-Bas have been regulars on the 7s and 10s circuit over the summer. They have won the Old Caterhamians 7s, East Grinstead 7s and Copenhagen 7s; and have been runners up at the Marbella 7s, Solstice 7s and Aberaeron 7s. Notable achievements have been: Kinsale 7s (Cup semi finalists), Church 7s (Cup semi finalists), Amsterdam 7s (Plate semi finalists) and Stockholm 10s (Cup semi finalists).

Hi, thanks everyone for an awesome time, just checked the results, and for those that you that didn't know, we had a really tough pool with the Wooden Spoon and Irish Ba-bas, but ended up going on to win the International Plate. We scored a try with the spooners though, through Ruler, so we were chuffed with that!

Results of Pool D
Wooden Spoon 36- 7 Pink Ba-bas
Wooden Spoon 36-0 Irish Ba-bas
Irish Ba-bas 12-7 Pink Ba-bas

Semi Final Plate
Caspian Cats 0- 45 Pink Ba-bas
Moody Cows 10- 36 Pink Ba-bas

A special mention must be made to Phil Greening and Mike Friday who acted as our water boys for our semi final game, and missed the England game in the process, whilst Jason Leonard watched from the sidelines :-) Thanks for the support
