HYTHE & DIBDEN COLTS CRICKET
UNDER 13'S REVIEW - WEEK 8 W/E 26/6
New Forest League
Hythe Under 13's played 2 games in 2
days during the week. On Thursday they visited Sway and lost by
just 9 runs. The following day they played a strong Langley Manor
side and despite scoring 73 for 4 they were well beaten by 53
runs.
Under 13's Vs SWAY
Toss Won by : Hythe
This match was reduced to 16 overs a side
because of fading light.
Sam Mead won the toss and elected to field
first. Hythe put in a much better bowling display this week as
their bowlers only bowled 9 wides in total.
Tom Huxley picked up 2 wickets off his two
overs whilst Harry Smith was very accurate in only conceeding
1-11 runs off his 4 overs and Tom Richards 1-17 off his 4 overs.
The fielding was also good as Harry Smith 2,
Matt Young, Todd Powell c&b and Tom Huxley all held onto
catches.
Sway finished their 16 overs on 83 for 9.
In reply Hythe lost Harry Smith 6 early but
that brought Sam Mead to the crease with Matt Young to form the
main partnership of the innings.
When Mead 12 and Young 18 were out so were
Hythe's chances as the rest all failed to get going and Hythe
fell just 9 runs short finishing on 74 for 6.
Innings of : SWAY 83 for 9 ( 16 Overs )

Under 13's Vs LANGLEY MANOR
Toss Won by Hythe
Innings of : LANGLEY MANOR 126 for 3 ( 18 Overs )
Hythe were expecting a tougher match than the previous day
against a strong Langley Manor outfit.
Sam Mead won the toss and elected to field first.
The Hythe bowlers were soon being punished as a short boundary
assisted in Langley getting off to a strong start.
None of them escaped punishment as Langley knocked up 126 for
3 off their 18 overs.
Young Josh Mead and John Stovell took the two wickets to fall
whilst a direct throw from Todd Powell also claimed a run out.
Hythe were never going to win the match so the key was to bat
out the innings and get as many runs as possible. Unfortunately
Hythe got off to the worst start when Matt Young was caught
behind for 0. But Harry Smith showed a lot of determination as he
carried his bat for the whole 18 overs and finished on 27 not
out.
Sam Mead 5. A.Wall 1 and Todd Powell 1 all went cheaply
against some tidy bowling but Smith found a good partner in Tom
Richards who finished on 14 not out. Smith and Richards took the
score to 73 for 4 at the end of the 18 overs with some very
positive shots and running between the wicket.
Langley were worthy winners by 53 runs.
Innings of : LANGLEY MANOR 126 for 3 ( 18 Overs )
