Under 11 Vs FAWLEY
Toss : Won by Fawley
Fawley Fall to Hythe at Last…
Some pride was finally brought back to Hythe
and Dibden Cricket Club by the under 11 squad of all people with
a closely fought victory over the Fawley under 11 team. The clubs
have met twice in as many weeks at senior level and Fawley ran
out worthy winners on both occasions so to win at any level
against our nearest rivals was a sheer delight.
Kev Glass a former Hythe and Dibden player
has assembled a new under 11 squad this year and in such a short
space of time has certainly got them playing with a lot of
spirit.
Hythe for once lost the toss and were asked
to bat by Fawley on the first really sunny day of the year the
under 11s have played in. Straight away the game was tight with
Josh and Keiran both making runs but each losing a wicket to
cancel out their hard running. The opening partnership finished
at 208 of 4 overs not the start the manager was looking for this
week.
Nathan and Connor the dependables came to
the crease and busily got on with the business of scoring runs,
running byes and leaving wides without giving away a wicket 229
of 8 things back on track..
Captain Charlie and Debut George Wingate
were next in and found the bowling tight. Neither batsman
troubled the scorers but ran when they had to and were solid in
defence, no wickets lost and 239 of 12 was on the board.
Man in form Tom Smith and The big fella
Richie Lever hythe’s last batsmen entered the game knowing
runs were required in great number. They didn’t disappoint
the large crowd a partnership of 21 runs, 15 runs of the bat 13
to Tom which included 2 boundaries. Final Score 260 for 2. Game
on…..
Fawley’s openers like hythe’s
batted sensibly and picked up runs were possible but lost 1
wicket in the 3rd over and finally came to rest on 208
after 4 ( Hythe’s opening 4 bowlers bowled only 1 wide
between them )
Fawley’s 2nd partnership
were steady as well and pushed the score up to 225 of 8 and
nerves were jangling in the crowd.
Nathan behind the stumps for the 1st
time this season as normal keeper Richard Jones was away did a
cracking job of allowing only 2 byes all game and by the end of
the 3rd Fawley partnership as Richard Lever finished
with a Wicket maiden it looked like Hythe had pushed ahead in the
game as the score was 230 of 12 overs. 31 runs required to win
for Fawley off 4 overs.
Fawley’s final pair set about the run
chase in flowing style hitting 22 runs of the 1st 3
overs. Another defeat to Fawley looked on the cards as 9 runs
would give them victory once more over Hythe and make it 3 in 2
weeks. But no ,,,,, Up steps Kieran to finish the job, Bowling no
wides in the last over and allowing just 3 singles and a leg bye
Hythe scraped home by just 4 runs.
Cracking game to watch , played in a
cracking spirit by both sides and the bar was open what more
could you want on a Sunday lunchtime…..

| Result : HYTHE Won by 4 Runs |
Under 15's Vs NEW MILTON
Toss Won by : Hythe
Ten man Hythe had no answer to a very strong New Milton side
who won by 138 runs.
Hythe's only excuse was that they were without three key
players in Luke Blackwell, Matt Head and Ben Smith.
Lee Powell won the toss and put the opposition into bat.
The Hythe bowlers were soon up against it as the home side
powered their way to 154 for 2 off their 18 overs.
Lee Powell claimed the only two wickets to fall and he and Tom
Porter recorded the best bowling figures -both going for 23 runs
off their 4 overs.
In reply it was the same old story - Everyone wants to bat but
no one wants to stick around long enough to play themselves in.
Hythe were all out for a misely 16 off 14.2 overs
Head up Sally things can only get better.
