![]() |
| Tom KNIGHT-OWEN 19 |
Hythe and Dibden Under 11s went to Bashley looking for their first back to back wins of the season. Tom Knight-Owen fresh back from Birmingham won the toss and chose to field first in what was going to be a warm day. Hythe opened the bowling with Sam fenton who bowled a Maiden then Sam Carley who bowled a wicket Maiden. The third over bowled by Lewie Fay another wicket Maiden and then the forth bowled by Tom Knight-Owen which was also a maiden.
With Bashley struggling at 191-2 after 4 over, Sam Copley was brought into the attack and opened up with Hythe’s third wicket. Tom Jones was brought on the other and had immediate success with 2 wickets, both bowled and a run out from Sam Fenton – which was excellently taken by Robbie Bassett at the stumps. Sam Jessney bowed the seventh over and struggled with his line but the good ball did cause the batsman trouble.
Bashley began to settle and managed to get the score back above 200 but further wickets for Fay and Carley and excellent bowling, fielding and keeping Bashley had to settle for 212-8 off their 16 overs. With 6 maiden overs bowled the Hythe and 13 byes on a first attempt at keeping for Robbie Bassett it was an impressive performance.
Bashley 212-8
Hythe went into the break knowing that they needed 250 to get the maximum points from the game. Jessney and Fenton opened the batting, both not getting out and Fenton hitting 2 fours on his way to 15 runs whilst Jessney backed him up and scored 4. The second pair in was Lewie Fay and Robbie Bassett, a shakeup that came from the coach. Both batsman scored runs but also got out once resulting in them both finishing with negative scores.
The third Hythe Batting pair was Knight-Owen and Copley. They got on with pushing the score past the 250 barrier, both players hitting 4s however Copley got out once. Knight-Owen finished with 19 runs and Copley 5. The final pair was Carley and Jones and after an excellent start they lost their way at the end with 2 run outs and 2 bowled wickets, all 4 to Jones. Carley finished with 18 runs and didn’t get out himself.
Bashley stuck with the game until the end and deserve great credit for that. Hythe 282-7
