Hythe Under 11's slipped to their first defeat of the season with a 42 run defeat at the hands of Sway. The young Green Caps gave away 110 in extras and though Sway had the same problem (62) it proved the difference between the two sides.

The Hythe and Dibden Under 11 side took on Sway in what was the first home game of the season. Tom Knight-Owen won the toss and chose to put the opposition in on a warm but breezy morning. Hythe who had Tom Ferrier keeping in his first game for the club opened the bowling with Sam Fenton who unfortunately had an unlucky day bowling 3 overs for 18 runs and no wickets. Sam Carley also had no luck from the other end finishing with 3 overs for 24 runs and no wickets as well.

Lewie Fay stuck first with a clean bowled and also grabbed a run out in the sway innings. Tom Jones bowled 2 overs for 13 runs and also took another good catch at mid on to assist Tom Knight-Owen. Chris Kemp picked up his first wicket for Hythe in his over and Sam Jessney bowled one over that went for 12 runs but his fielding helped the team out on what was a high scoring innings. Tom Knight-Owen bowled well up until the last over, where wides and no balls are bowled again and ended on figures of 3 overs for 40 runs and 1 wicket.

Sway Score 342-4 of their 16 overs.

Hythe’s batting got underway with a modified batting order to try and help chase the mammoth total. Tom Knight-Owen and Tom Jones opened up and got Hythe off to a good start, with the skipper scoring 10 with no outs. Next in was Sam Fenton with Tom Ferrier and again the pai scored well with Sam fenton hitting a magnificent cover drive only then to be out the next ball, Tom Ferrier also batting well score 3 with no outs.

The third partnership was Sam Carley and Sam Jessney with both players ending with runs in positive figures, Sam Carley 8 with no outs and Sam Jessney scoring 3 with one out. The final pair to bat was Lewie Fay and Chris Kemp. Bothe batsman were scoring well off the bat but unfortunately getting out once each. Lewie finished with 10 runs and Chris scoring 6 to go along with his first wicket.

Sway played well and deserved the win in what was a very high scoring game. Hythe Score 300-5
