MILFORD ON SEA vs HYTHE UNDER 13'S

25th June @ Hythe

Kieran CHALMERS 30* & 2-3 Zac MILLAR 30*

Under 13’s Go Marching On With 8 Wins In a Season So Far

Hythe Under 13's record their fifth league win of the season, making it 8 in total with a convincing 70 run win over Milford on Sea at Barnes Lane.

Hythe batted first with Froggie shuffling the order around but it was again Kieran Chalmers 30* and Zac Millar 30* who pushed the score upto 127-6 off 18 overs. Milford scored 57 for 8 in reply with 6 Hythe bowlers getting a wicket.

Well, 8 out of 10 isn’t bad and this one went extremely well.

Having won the toss again (!) Hythe batted first and changed the order around to help others get batting practice.Josh & James Bidwell opened the batting but at 14 for 2 and the opposition gaining in confidence, Kieran and Richard settled the nerves. Richard was bowled for 14 and Kieran retired for 30.

Nathan came in and 2 balls later departed for 4 runs (glorious 4 through cover followed by a ball keeping low hitting middle stump).Sam Long and Zac Miller continued the scoring with Zac retired on 30 off 22 balls. Sam ran out Elliott without Elliott facing a ball (he apologised later) and Mark Reid hit a huge 4 (nearly a 6) first ball and Jack played his normal solid game. Hythe innings finished 127 for 6.

Kieran and Josh opened the bowling as normal and both took a wicket in their first over - with the score on 8 off 4 for 2 wickets.Bowling changes were made with Elliott and Alex Nicholas coming on with the run rate very stagnant - Alex finishing on 2 maidens (not seen that before). James Bidwell turned his arm over and finished with a wicket and 8 runs conceded. Jack Knight Owen, Sam Long and Richard Jones all bowled tightly but the skipper decided wickets were required and, in the fading light, returned with Josh to terrorise the tail. It wasn’t enough and Milford held out despite some very loud appeals which fell on my deaf ears.

57 was the final total reached by Milford on Sea. Our bowling superstars - Kieran 4 overs 2 wickets 4 runs and Josh Mead 4 overs 1 wicket 5 runs.

Next up - Ellingham - may the run continue ……….
