Hythe & Dibden 1st XI - Hampshire County Division 2

Hythe & Dibden 2nd XI - Hants Reg Division 2 South West

With no overseas player and Ben Kendrick unavailable for most of the season, Hythe found themselves finishing in a mid table position.

Hats off to skipper Simon Dixon who kept his enthusiam going despite the mid season announcement of veteran and top bowler, Paul Whitlocks retirement and a nightmare August which saw several key players unavailable.

Robbie James yet again topped the batting averages scoring 499 runs in the season, scoring 5 fifties in the process. Richie Froggett was second scoring 206 runs for the season including a match winning 98 v Purbrook. Paul Whitlock topped the bowling taking 22 wickets at 20.05 whilst newcomer Jon Weall (25) and Simon Wright (22) also topped the 20 wicket mark. The emergance of Richard Last was a big bonus for the First XI and the top fielding of youngsters Matt Howe and James Page was a big bonus to a ageing side.

The Second XI had a good season finishing 10th in South West 2 after being promoted last year.

Wayne Effeny (478) and Sean Tongs (438) lead from the front with the bat. Tongs scoring the only century in the league for the green caps 105* vs Swan Green . Mike Bowman missed the start of the season through illness but came back to score 224 runs in just 9 knocks. The bowling again heavily relied on the wickets of Chalky White 28 @ 18.21 and Wayne Effeny 25 wkta @ 18.24. Many of the youngsters were brought into the side and performed well. Tom Porter hit his maiden fifty (51) against Paultons and if Lee Powell could play more regularly what a big season he could have next year.
