FAWLEY vs

Ton
Up For Green Caps As They Record Third League Win
Double
delight over local rivals, as Hythe U13s beat Fawley U13s for the
second time this season. Froggetts Green Caps Post their
highest ever total, posting a score over 100 runs for the first
time with surely more to come next season! Its worth noting
that 9 of the 11 regulars will be staying with the Under 13 age
group next season!
On a sunny evening with a very chilly and
brisk wind Hythe made racked up the runs having won the toss and
elected to bat first. An audacious start from reluctant opener
Marc Reid saw him thump a six off the first ball he faced much to
the delight of the Hythe faithful. He tried the same shot again
on the second ball he faced, alas this time he wasnt able
to time it so well and was caught. I believe that is a strike
rate of 300!
Next up came one of the highest partnerships
of the season between Jones and Chalmers who scored at a good
rate for a partnership of 47 and pushed the score onto 68 before
Richard Jones was bowled out for 22. Josh Mead came in and made a
useful 13 runs before being caught out with another highlight
moment as Josh also hit a six. Zac Millar came to the crease with
Kieran Chalmers who was shortly to retire having made an unbeaten
30. Nathan Froggett joined Millar who both made 4 runs each
before falling to catches. Last wicket to fall was that of Tom
Smith who made 2, leaving Chris Griffin 2 and James Bidwell 1 as
the Not Out batsmen when the last ball was bowled. So Hythe went
past the ton for the first time this season making 105 for 6 from
their 18 overs.
The Fawley innings started fairly slowly as
the Hythe bowlers kept things tight. Chalmers and Jones
despatched one of the openers each but they were to be the only
wickets to fall. Pothecary and Munro batted out the rest of the
Fawley innings but were unable to force the pace against an
overall good bowling and fielding performance by the Hythe boys.
Hythe managed to restrict Fawley to 88 at the end of their 18
overs with Mead, Griffin and Bidwell keeping the bowling tight.
Add to that Chalmers only conceding 12 runs from 4 overs and
Froggett only conceding 7 from 2 overs it meant a deserved 4th
win of the season.
Good performance by Hythe and Dibden under
13s in a game played in a good and friendly spirit by both teams.
