SWAY Vs HYTHE UNDER 15'S

13th July @ Station Road, Sway

Last Over Defeat For Under 15's

Hythe Under 15's final League game of the season resulted in a last over defeat at the hands of Sway. Jonjo Stovell and Matt Young both scored 30 not out to set a reasonable target but the homeside got home on the penultimate ball of the final over with 2 wickets in hand.

Coach Sally Harding praised the lads for their efforts this year saying ' Well-done lads for a season much improved on last year. You have all worked hard, had fun and always with a great team spirit. You have been a joy to manage. Good luck to you all next year.'

Sway won the toss and put Hythe in on a sunny morning at Station Road. Hythe were soon in trouble losing Tom Richards 0, Sam Mead 0 and Sam Page 2 early.

It was then left to Captain Jonjo Stovell 35* and Matt Young 30* to lead the recovery and bat through the rest of the overs. Hythe finishing on 84 for 3 off their 18 overs.

Some good bowling by the Hythe attack kept them in the game J.Stovell 2-20 off 4 , Harry Smith 2-19 off 4 and Sam Page 2 for 6 off 2 the pick of the bowlers.

Sam Mead 2 and Damon Lord held onto some very good catches but in the final over after the the Sway umpire permitted a run on a dead ball, enabling the stronger batsman to gain the strike, Sway got home with one ball spare.

Disappointing for Hythe was the fact that their final two games were close encounters which they could have easily won instead of losing but a good season which has seen several of the lads already make their mark in senior cricket. - Jonjo Stovell, Sam Mead, Harry Smith, Tom Richards, Matt Young, Tom Huxley and Tod Powell at 15 great achievement.
