HYTHE under 11 v New Milton 'A'
HYTHE & DIBDEN UNDER
11's
Vs TOTTON & ELING
Sunday 29th June
Totton test Hythe and we pass the
mark.
Hythe
Under 11's must go down as the clubs team of the week as they
beat Totton & Eling by 13 runs. Its not often one of our club
sides gain a victory over 'The Eeels' so lets make a special
mention of it. Well done guys
Another sunny morning on the shores of Hythe
saw the Northern club of Totton travel down the A326.
Alex duly won the toss for the 9th
out of 10 flicks and put Totton into bat.
The Totton openers only took 1 run in the
first 4 overs, the rest going down to extras, Ali Bryers took a
wicket in the second over and Totton were at 210 -1 after 4. The
second pair lost a wicket in the 5th over to a tidy
ball from Sam Kelly and they also struggled to score runs and
with the loss of another wicket in the 8th over,
Totton were on 211 for 3 after 8. Ali Bryers took that wicket and
his figures of 3 overs 2 wkts for 7 runs were the best figures
Hythe produced.
The third pairing hit 7 runs and lost a wicket when Archie
Gilbert bowled and the batsman took off his own wicket. (Thanks
go to the spectators for spotting that, as the umpires were half
asleep for that one.) Maybe the square leg umpire thought the
wind had blown it off. At 225 4 after 12 overs it was
looking like an achievable score, the last pairing had other
ideas, aided by a disastrous first over by Alex - 4 wides and a
bye they settled in. 7 runs and 2 byes off the next over sent
their score to 244. Alex wisely gave his 3rd over to
Sam Kelly but the pair were in fine form and hit another 13 runs
off the last two overs. With Hythe giving away 44 extras, of
which 30 were supposed wides, Totton reached a good score of 261.
After a positive
team talk during the break we went out to bat, confidently. We
lost two wickets in the first over and therefore restarted our
game in the second, score now needed 71 off 15 overs, nothing
like a good start. Mitch Parker who had been bowled twice, then
dug in, scoring 8 runs with his partner Archie -3 to get us back
in the game with the score at 211 after 4. David Pepper , playing
his second game for us hit a high no ball for 4 off his first
delivery to set the pace. After 8 we were 235-2. Ali and Billy
then added another 8 runs and after 12 overs we were 257 for 2.
For once Alex and Harrison were not left chasing a large target.
With plenty of extras to help Alex hit 11 runs and top scored and
Hythe ended up at 274 -2.
The team played really well. Good calling
throughout the chase and only losing two wickets gave Hythe
another deserved victory. Next weeks game is cancelled due to
Sway pulling out of the league. We cannot play a Dads V
Lads next week due to the U15s playing at home, but we can
arrange it for the end of the season.
Dont forget no training on
Tuesday, no match on Sunday next training 8th
