HYTHE & DIBDEN UNDER 11's

Vs NEW MILTON

Sunday 11th May

Sweat, Blood then Tears

Another glorious sunny day for the U11’s playing at home for the first time.

Hythe convincingly won the toss again and put New Milton into bat. Hythe kept the score down with New Milton at 216-3 after 8 overs. Alex caught the first wicket off Archie’s bowling, Ali then clean bowled the second and Alex ran out the third off his own bowling.

The following 8 overs saw New Milton pull away to a total score of 250 runs. This was kept down by Hythe taking 3 wickets, all clean bowled by Ben, Archie and Harrison. The extras for New Milton’s score were 48 with 34 coming from wides.

The boys wiped off the sweat during the break ready for a chase of 250

Hythe equalled New Milton’s start with 216-4 after 8 overs. Then at the end of the 15th over the scores were tied. All sitting nervously for the final over, could the U11’s win their first game for two seasons. The first ball was hit well, on its way for four but was unfortunately stopped by Sam Girden, Seven year old Sam saved the day but paid the price and was hit direct in the face with the incoming ball. The volume of blood was enough for the emergency services to send the coastguard to the 999 call.

Play resumed after 45 mins. with 5 balls remaining. A wide put us in the lead followed by two dot balls, then a wicket for New Milton put the pressure on, with Hythe requiring 4 runs to win off two balls.

1 run off the penultimate ball left us requiring a boundary. Alas, a run out was all we could get for being so close.

So in an action packed game Hythe after a great effort went down by 7 runs and also lost the match ball, Noah Girden requesting it as a memento for his poor brother who was carted off in the ambulance (eventually).
