Hythe Go Down With Credit In League Opener

A new look Hythe Under 11's side which included 7 new players found the going tough in their New Forest League opener as they went down by 47 runs to Pylewell Park. But Coach Tom Nicholas was encouraged by a good bowling display from all the bowlers, which gives the side hope for the season

Set in the lovely surroundings of Pylewell Park Country House you only have to look at Pylewell's net facilities to know that Hythe's youngest colts side was going to have a tough baptism into league cricket.

The home side scored a strong 261 for 1 off their 16 overs with their skipper T.Loseby scoring 27. Hythe conceeded only 21 runs in extras in their total which for a first match is a very good effort from the Hythe bowlers. Archie Gilbert picked up Hythe's only wicket.

In true Hythe Colts style it was once again the batting that let the side down ( which is where the nets is an advantage in coaching). Despite scoring 41 runs they proceeded to lose 10 wickets attempting to reach the target. (-5 everytime a batsman is out).

Harrison Smith top scored for Hythe with 12 runs whilst the Pylewell bowlers gave away 23 extras. T.Loseby took 3 wickets for 7 in three overs capping off a fine mornings work for the home side.

Hythe Coach Tom Nicholas was quick to praise Pylewell's fielding which saw several run outs and some good bowling.
