2002 SEASON

COUNTY DIVISION 3 RUNNERS UP

After winning the County 4 Championship in 2001, the First XI followed it by gaining promotion to County 2 - losing just one game in the process. Eugene Burzler and Wayne Effeny both made the league batting averages, Burzler also won league bowling award and Paul Whitlock and Effeny both made league bowling averages.

In 2002 the Hythe Sunday XI entered the Cross Solent League for the first time to give them a higher grade of cricket on a Sunday. Of the thirteen clubs in the league, eleven were Southern League clubs as well as Southsea who were in County 1 and Hythe in County 2 so to finish 9th of 13 was a creditable performance.
