Hythe Second XI reached their first cup final in 8 years with a 6 wicket win over Milford on Sea. Having won three from three they are now in unreachable position without playing their final 2 league matches.

Star on the night 15 year old Lee Powell who's struggled with his bowling all season. Last night it all came good taking 6-16 off 3.4 overs.

Hythe now face Milford again in the final on July 20th @ Milford on Sea

Hythe won the toss and elected to field. Milford got off to a flying start with 12 from the first over and had reached 37 by the end of the 5^th, before Chalky White finally made the breakthrough with 2 wickets in the 6^th over. Wickets then fell steadily with an inspired spell from Lee Powell, who from 3.4 overs took six wickets for 16 runs. With Mike Edwards and Wayne Effeny picking up a wicket each, Milford on Sea were all out for 83 in the 16^th over.

In reply Hythe started steadily, and at the half way stage were 36 for 3. Mike Edwards then took charge and ably supported by Mike Bowman took Hythe to within 14 runs of victory, before Mike Bowman was out in the 16^th over. Despite a brief interruption for rain the players returned for Mike Edwards (39 not out) to hit the winning runs with 3 balls to spare.

Credit must go to the umpires and the Milford on Sea players for returning in the drizzle to allow the last 9 balls to be bowled; otherwise the match would have to have been replayed. These two sides will meet again on 20^th July in the final at Milford on Sea.
