Not for the first time this season rain intervenes in what had the makings of an intriging game in the 2008 Centenary Presidents Day.
The day started with an open air church service on the ground which was well attended by the villagers and the Qcc team. This was followed by lunch for all of the players before the start of play.
The two skippers Adrian Evans (Presidents XI) and Dean Robinson (Qcc XI) tossed up and it was decided that the Presidents XI would have first bat in murky conditions. The Presidents XI was made up of players from clubs within the district, whereas the Quatt side was a mix of the teams with Craig Tomkins guesting.

The Presidents XI back row from left to right; C. Pritchard (Umpire), I. Roe (Bridgnorth), L. Evans (Bridgnorth), Howard Sanders (Scorer), S. Walford (Highley), S. Randall (Worfield), M. Gilbert (Trysull & Seisdon), T. Lloyd (Umpire). Front row from left to right ; T. Wall (Highley), T. Hughes (Alveley), M. Wilder (Trysull & Seisdon), A.T. Evans (Qcc, Captain), T. Perry (Worfield) and N. Turford (Alveley)
The Presidents XI posted 132 all out with Tim Wall top scoring with 38 and sharing in a 54 run partnership with Les Evans who made 20. Gareth Jones bowled well to record figures of 2-18 but the pick of the Qcc bowlers was Matt Fleming who took 4-16.
In reply the Qcc XI got off to the worst possible start losing Eugene McCarney for a duck with the score on 4. Skipper Dean Robinson and Craig Harris attempted to get the innings back on track but in extremely poor light Terry Hughes had Harris superbly caught at slip by Wall. However, not long after this the rain became too heavy and the players left the field for the third and final time with Robinson unbeaten on 13 and the score at 21-2.

After the game there was a bbq and a band which was enjoyed by the villagers, supporters and players alike. Special thanks to the members of the Presidents XI, Adrian Evans for his organisation and all those who helped out on an enjoyable day for all.
