Heavy rain prevented a finish at the Oval on Saturday with the game against Bomere Heath nicely placed for an interesting finish.
Bomere won the toss and inserted Qcc on a wicket that was in good condition despite the wet week leading up to the game. The visitors made an early breakthrough in the 35 over match when Adam Evans was caught behind off the bowling of Stevens with the score on 5.
Eugene McCarney and Dean Robinson steadied the ship and took the score on to 49 before McCarney was adjudged leg before for 10. This brought together Adrian Evans and Robinson and the pair batted superbly putting on 130 for the third wicket, both recording good half centuries. Evans (78) and Robinson (67) were eventually dismissed but Qcc went on to post 183-4 from their allotted 35 overs.
In reply the Qcc openers bowled a good line and used the conditions well with swing for particulaly Gareth Jones, however the Bomere openers battled well and a breakthrough was not forthcoming. That was until Barry Jones bowled Wigley with a superb delivery and he followed this up by dismissing professional Mahmood when he was superbly caught at slip by Dean Robinson.
However, with Qcc taking a firm hold of the game the weather filled in from the south east and despite the patience of both sides the game was eventually abandoned at 6pm with the score at 41-2 off 11 overs.
