MARK McGREGOR - Defender/Manager - 16/02/77

 

32yr old Mark made 423 Football League appearances at Wrexham, Burnley, Blackpool and Port Vale between July 1995 and April 2008. Then after 41 games for Altrincham, some as captain, Mark agreed to join us at Gap Connah's Quay on a 2 year contract as player/manager in late July '09. Mark’s appointment came after the Nomads were made aware of his desire to move into coaching and management, so his decision to join was a significant development in his professional career.

 Mark is noted for his leadership qualities and as such an experienced defender, he is a driving force on the pitch. His  knowledge, experience and many contacts in football, stands Mark in good stead in his Managerial and Coaching capacity with the Nomads.

TERRY McCORMICK - Goalkeeper - 25/08/83

 

Terry initially played for Tranmere Rovers before moving to Marine. After a short stay at Congleton Town in the NWC League, he played for Skelmersdale United and Bamber Bridge. Terry joined Nomads in January 09 after Chris Maxwells return to Wrexham and made the number 1 shirt his own, with 10 WPL games and 4 NWCFA cup games under his belt by the end of the season.

PAUL DOWRIDGE - Defender - 21/11/77

Paul is a former Cefn Druids player who started 2004/5 with Airbus UK before signing for Welshpool where he played most of his 150 WPL games. Paul signed for Nomads in July ‘08, but moved after 2 games to Welshpool in September via Blacon Youth. He joined Porthmadog in June ‘09 but signed for Nomads again in August. Paul is a no-nonsense defender with lots of WPL experience.

BEN ALSTON - Defender - 4/11/86

 

Born in St Helens, Ben played for St Helens Town, Pilkingtons and Congleton Town, before signing for Connah's Quay Nomads in July 2007. Ben has been a first choice player since signing for Nomads two seasons ago. He is a strong tackling full back who is just at home in the centre of defence or midfield. Most of last season, Ben put in some good performances as a central defender. Ben turned to football when injury prevented him from following his original first love, rugby league.

ALAN HOOLEY - Defender - 13/10/78

 

Chester-born Alan was signed by Newtown from West Cheshire League Christleton FC as a central midfielder. After two seasons with Newtown, Alan rejoined Airbus who he had previously played for in the Cymru Alliance before their promotion to the WPL. Alan signed for Nomads in January 08 and played 7 games by the end of the season. He then moved to Flint Town United before returning to Nomads in July 09.

ALAN GLOVER - Defender - 17/05/80

Alan first joined us from Congleton Town in August 07, then he returned to Bamber Bridge in January 08 before moving on to Runcorn Linnets. Alan returned to Nomads from Caernarfon Town in August 09. He has previous WPL experience with Bangor City and Holywell Town in the 90s, as well as playing for Warrington Town, Northwich Victoria, Bamber Bridge and Skelmersdale. Alan also represented England Under-18s and the British Universities. He is a Left back and as a PE Teacher, fitness is not a problem

ANDY ALSTON - Centre Back - 3/11/79

Born in St Helens, Andy joined Gap Connah's Quay in August 2008 from Warrington Town. The brother of Nomads' defender Ben Alston, Andy was the player of the year at Congleton Town in 2007. An ever present player last season, Andy is a big strong tackling centre half, commanding in the air, a good passer and a regular scorer from corners last season.

CRAIG JONES – Mid field - 07/11/84

 

‘Tigger’ is Liverpudlian who previously played for Penlake, Knowsley and Congleton Town before following assistant manager Andy Lee to Connah's Quay Nomads in August 2007. A midfield dynamo that passes and tackles well and never stops running, Tigger has been a first choice player since signing for Nomads. He also likes to chip in with the occasional goal and is a very popular figure at the club with a playful character and generous personality.

TOM PRICE - Mid field - 23/03/91

Tom, the son of Nomads trainer Ken Price, is a product of the Nomads Academy system. He made his 1st team debut (+ 3 sub) as a 17yr old in season 2007/8. Tom is an outstanding prospect who moved last season to join Mynedd Isa in the Cymru Alliance. He decided to sign for Nomads after the re-appointment of Jim Hackett as Manager for this season.

SAM McNUTT – Mid field - 16/11/79

 

After previous experience at Prescot Cables, Congleton Town, Vauxhall Motors and Southport, Sam signed for Connah's Quay Nomads in January 2008 and played until the end of the season. After missing pre-season with injury, he went out on loan to Holker Old Boys in September 2008 and made the move permanent in January 09. Sam rejoined Nomads in July 09. He is a natural left sided mid-fielder and is a hard worker with plenty of pace and an eye for goals.

WES KILGANNON – Mid-field - 08/04/82

 

 

27 year old Wes, graduated from Chester City youth to the first team. He played in the WPL with Caernarfon Town and joined Nomads from West Cheshire League Christleton in Aug 2007. He was voted Welsh Premier player of the month in Dec 07. Wes moved to Airbus UK Broughton last season but rejoins Nomads as Assistant Player/Manager. As a midfield player, he is a tough tackler who can hold the ball well, then use his excellent passing skill.

DANNY FORDE – Mid-field - 08/01/86

 

Born in Salford, Danny joined Barrow after being released by Oldham Athletic and then played for Mossley and Ashton United before joining Nomads in January 2008. He is a tenacious player, who adds skill, bite and guile to our mid-field and he also finished last season as 2nd highest scorer with 7 goals. 'Fordey' has been a regular fixture in the team since joining Nomads and his decision to stay for another season is good news for us all.
