JIM HACKETT ANNOUNCES HIS BACKROOM STAFF TEAM
By wivey - June 17 2009
JIM HACKETT BRINGS IN FORMER NOMAD WES KILGANNON AS HIS NEW ASSISTANT PLAYER/MANAGER AND BOTH KEN PRICE AND JOHN ROBERTS RETURN AS COACHES:- Pre-season training will commence on 1st July at Dock Road >

Jim Hackett has sent the following email to the website:-

My Backroom staff for next season will be:-

Player/Assistant Manager - Wes Kilgannon
Physio/Coach - Ken Price
Speed/Agility/Fitness Coach - John Roberts.

I have been in touch with those players from last seasons squad that I have contact details for and the following players have indicated their interest in joining again for next season:

Tigger
Ben Alston
Andy Alston
Mike Cronshaw
Danny Forde
Aden Shannon

I have today received contact details for the remainder of last seasons squad, however I can't open the attachment on this Spanish computer. I'll keep trying different ways of opening it and if I succed, I'll get in touch with them. If you could put this message on the website I'd appreciate it. Alternatively, if any of last seasons squad that I've not contacted yet would like to let me know their position, they can text their message to me on 07939 643361 and I'll get back to them via text.

I've also had several players contact me with a view to coming in pre-season for us to look at and for them to look at us, so as things stand I'm quite optimistic that we'll have a good strong squad ready to start the season.

My return to GAP Connah´s Quay was quite a rapid affair and the speed in which it was done didn't allow me to change my holiday arrangements, but at least I've got email and mobile telephone that has allowed me to keep in touch with all the relevant people I need to.

Having spent last season at Prestatyn Town looking after the Academy and Community schemes, I'm sure that people will understand my wish to return to managing a senior side, and this opportunity was a chance to return to somewhere where I felt I hadn't finished the job I'd started last time. Hopefully this time, things will go on for a bit longer than one season!

My thoughts on past events are that the rights and wrongs of how my tenure ended is now history. Instead we can all look forward to writing a new chapter in our personal, and more importantly the collective GAP Connah's Quay History. I'm excited by the players who have agreed to come into the club and I'm looking forward to getting involved in all aspects of the club.

Being at Prestatyn Town last season, I am aware of the excellent job done by Trevor Green in getting the set-up running to such a good standard. I am also aware of the work carried out by all the coaches and in particular by Jay Catton, who has set good standards to all the players and other coaches. I have contacted Jay to arrange a meeting to discuss what needs to be done to move the Academy forward. I'm sure that the whole club structure will now go from strength to strength with the coaches we have available.

I'll be interested to see is the way in which the clubs supporters get involved, now that there seems to be a raft of people wanting to help the club run better and I'll also enjoy making contact with a lot of the people who were here last time, such as Ronnie Baines and the rest of the stewards.

Finally, I should say what great support I had from everyone involved at Prestatyn Town, especially the Chairman Tony Thackeray who always knew that if the right offer came along, I would return to management. Prestatyn Town are a club on the up and I have left behind some good friends and a great committee and I hope they continue to progress (except against us).

JIM HACKETT - Manager & Academy Directotor

Jim moved to Flintshire after leaving the Army and has followed the fortunes of the Nomads ever since. Appointed after Nev Powell's departure in May 2007, Jim had to rebuild a team from scratch and Nomads ended the 07/08 season in 15th place playing attractive football. Following Jims  controversial departure, he joined Prestatyn Town as Director of their new Academy for last season. Steve O'Shaughnessy replaced him as Nomads Manager for last seasons campaign.

51 yr old Londoner Jim, holds a Uefa 'A' coaching badge. He resurrected Chester City’s junior set-up and led the youth side to a memorable victory over Tottenham in the FA Youth Cup. With a number of his players graduating to Chester City's 1st team squad, Jim left the League Two outfit in March 2007. He has also managed Wrexham Under-16s as well as having senior management experience at Prestatyn Town and Colwyn Bay reserves.

Wes Kilgannon - Player/Assistant Manager

27 year old Wes is a former Chester City youth who graduated to the first team and who has had previous Welsh Premier experience at Caernarfon Town. He joined Nomads from West Cheshire League club Christleton in August 2007 and was voted Welsh Premier player of the month in December 07. Wes moved to Flintshire rivals Airbus UK Broughton the following summer and now rejoins Nomads as Jim Hacketts Assistant. His tough tackling and passing skills as a holding in midfield player, are an added bonus to the club.

Ken Price - Sports Injuries Coach

Ken is a Uefa A licenced coach who is also a qualified Podiatrist and does a lot of work with lower limb injuries. Ken had worked with the 1st team and the Nomads Academy for three seasons prior to leaving us last season. His return to Nomads will ensure that injured players get the best care and treatment possible for a speedy recovery as well as top class coaching.

John Roberts - Speed and Agility Coach

John worked with Jim at Chester City for three seasons prior to joining Nomads 2 yrs ago and his record of work with players speed, agility and balance is first class. John left Nomads at the end of season 07/08, so his return is a bonus. Nomads players that worked previously with John, will tell you how good his training is. He works with players involved in the professional game, as well as our players and his enthusiasm rubs off on all the players’ that work with him.
