True Nomads Supporters
THIS WEBSITE WILL CLOSE DOWN ON THURSDAY 07/08/08
By wivey - August 5 2008
ON THURSDAY, I WILL STOP RUNNING THIS WEBSITE AND WILL CLOSE THE MESSAGE BOARD DOWN. A LINK WILL BE PROVIDED TO THE NEW GAP CONNAHS QUAY WEBSITE:- I have been invited to run the new website by the new owners of the club, but I have decided to decline the offer. >

I would like to thank you all for your major contribution to the growth and success of this website. In its two and a half year history, it has risen from humble beginnings to a record of 61,696 hits in one month, with 37,933 of those hits being on the clubs message board. In another month, stories were read 28,238 times. I know statistics are boring, so to put it another way, it has become one of the most frequently viewed sites of all Welsh Premier League football clubs, despite our relatively small following. It couldn't have happened, without your passion and enthusiasm for the Nomads, so thanks again.

Over the last 14 months, it has been my misfortune to preside over the Nomads clubs website during the most traumatic period in the history of the club.

Nev Powell left taking most of the players and our assistant manager with him and other players jumped ship to join other clubs. Jim Hackett was appointed and asked to perform the miracle of rebuilding the club from the bottom upwards and somehow keep us in the Welsh Premier League, which he duly did. He was promptly rewarded by the incompetent and malevolent Bobby Hunter with the sack. Mr Hunter then got rid of all others who had done anything good for the club IE, John Gray and all of the coaches who had been brought in by Jim Hackett. He then proceeded to take Nomads rapidly downhill towards oblivion.

GAP showed interest but backed off when they realised that they couldn't do business with Bobby Hunter at the helm. GAP were the only feasible financial possibility for the survival off the club, so with the full confidence and support of a significant number of us true Nomads supporters, a major shareholder of the club stepped in and organised a shareholders coup against Bobby Hunter. When Mr Hunter finally new his days were well and truly numbered, he forced a last minute deal with GAP, to ensure his status in the new club was preserved. GAP decided in their wisdom not to re-appoint Jim Hackett and/or Andy Lea, and preferred to start with new people, rebuilding from the bottom again. I can have no qualms with that, it is the right of any owner of a football club. So there you finally have it, the whole story without any GAPs! It's the least you deserve for all your loyal support to the Nomads and this website.

Do I have any regrets about the time that I have given to Nomads, with the exception of the disgraceful way that John Gray and Jim Hackett and his loyal team were treated, the answer is no! Its enough for me to know that I played a part in ensuring the Nomads future survival and for whatever imperfections they may have, I am very grateful to GAP for that.

Its now time for me to take a well earned rest, so best of luck to you all and to the future of Nomads. I will be up to see a few games soon, so do say Hi if you feel like it.
